“Becoming an estate agent happened by co-incidence.”
I was a Seafield Estate Agent in Gonubie for two years; 7 days a week, canvassing stock, meeting potential clients and soon my For Sale boards popped up all over Gonubie. Within months, I had the biggest market share of all the agents in Gonubie. People noticed my success and praised me for my hard work, sound market & property knowledge, my ability to price properties correctly, match people to homes, my honesty, integrity and sincerity, which seemed to be lacking in our industry.
I decided from the outset that my goal would be two-fold:
1. To be the most successful estate agent in Gonubie
2. To change the poor perception the public has of an estate agent.
In 1995, my husband and I decided it was time that we spread our wings and do our own thing. We registered Dalena Properties CC and rented premises in the Gonubie SPAR Center, from which we traded for 10 years. Despite the political and economic volatility during that time in our country’s history, we stuck to our knitting, built up the company, and invested as much as we could into property.
In 2000 my husband resigned from Eskom, where he worked as a Property Manager for 21 years, to join Dalena Properties on a full time basis. Danie brought with him a wealth of property knowledge and experience. Danie is also a Professional Valuer.
