Eastern Cape is new Home Buyers Choice!
Port Alfred is a popular holiday destination in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Until recently, the Eastern Cape has never really been considered a popular destination of choice with most local holiday makers and tourists opting for beautiful Cape Town or Durban's warm inviting climate instead. That concept is all changing now and property in the once sleepy, seaside towns of the Eastern Cape is slowly being realized by discerning home buyers.

That is because the Eastern Cape has much to offer and has an abundance of attractions and natural beauty. Luckily, it is not yet as commercialized when compared with Durban or the Western Cape. The Eastern Cape has incredible potential and one can see this in the ongoing development and expansion happening in Port Elizabeth, East London, the Port Alfred Marina and the popular canal development in St. Francis Bay.

These buyers recognize the unique value in these now desirable and often prestigious locations.

Grahamstown, Port Alfred and the Sunshine Coast

One of the current trends in the small university town of Grahamstown, shows buyers investing in property as residences, while their children are studying at school and university. This also gives the parents a second 'getaway home' and accommodation when visiting their children.

However, these investors are not only limited to buying property in Grahamstown itself. Some of the preferred destinations include purchasing property along the coast, such as in Port Alfred or Kenton on Sea. These areas have recently seen an incredible increase in demand for holiday homes and even permanent residencies.

Port Alfred is renowned for its Royal Alfred Marina, built on the banks of the Kowie River and situated in the heart of the Sunshine Coast. Port Alfred beaches now also enjoys Blue Flag status!

Other trendy destination villages in this area include Kenton on Sea, which also enjoys Blue Flag status, Canon Rocks and Kleinmonde. All of these towns are no more than a 30 minute drive from Grahamstown or just 90 minutes from Port Elizabeth or East London.

Cintsa, Haga Haga and the Wild Coast

For tourists, the Eastern Cape is a haven just waiting to be discovered! Moving further east from East London, we find ourselves in the 'Wild Territory', hence the name - The Wild Coast! Here lies a large stretch of untouched, natural rugged land, which all seems to have been forgotten in time. There are even some lovely, smaller villages which offer the perfect hideaway and escape from city life.

Here you are surrounded by the wild terrain and the peace and tranquility of the Indian Ocean. If this is your scene, you should talk to our agents about property available in Cintsa, Morgan's Bay or Haga Haga. It provides the perfect haven, and is completely surrounded by nature.

Port Elizabeth and East London

For those who find themselves gravitating more towards the city life, the Eastern Cape finds itself the host to 2 major cities, which cater for today's demanding, modern day lifestyle. Port Elizabeth lies in the western half of the Eastern Cape and is the region's largest and busiest city. It is a major shipping port and is home to some of the country's biggest industries, such as wool, fruit and the automotive industries.

It also has passenger and cargo airports, connecting to every city in the country and is generously supported by two harbor ports (Port Elizabeth and Coega) along the major southern shipping route for passing cargo and passenger liners.

Approximately 300km to the east of Port Elizabeth is the city of East London. It offers similar facilities but on a smaller scale. It also offers a quieter and more relaxed lifestyle and is renowned for its long stretches of rugged coastline, beautiful sandy beaches and its many river inlets.

East London is also home to international motor company, Mercedes Benz. For property investors and home buyers, East London offers many prime locations, such as Gonubie, Beacon Bay, Bonnie Doone and Nahoon. Here you will find premium property, all with the convenience of being close to the sea, schools and shopping centers.
